Have Problems With Oral Bacteria? Know How To Discourage Bacterial Growth

Use Fluoride

Fluoride is known for hardening your tooth enamel, but it also has an effect that is antibacterial. Once fluoride comes in contact with bacteria, the bacteria become sensitive to acids found in your mouth. It will be difficult for the bacteria to thrive and there is a cease in acid production. Bacteria growth then suffers due its inability to feed.

You can use fluoride by regularly using an over-the-counter mouthwash, or by rinsing with water that has fluoride in it.

Eat Cinnamon

Were you aware that cinnamon has an antimicrobial property in it known as cinnamic aldehydes? You can get the antibacterial benefits of cinnamon by simply putting it on the foods that you eat. Chewing cinnamon flavored gum is another way to get the antimicrobial substance into your mouth and fight bacteria. 

Some people will even brush their teeth by dipping the toothbrush into cinnamon so it can be used like a toothpaste. However, know that it is possible to have too much of a good thing, since too much exposure to cinnamon could cause issues with irritating tissues in your mouth.

Drink Teas

Bacteria growth can be discouraged by drinking tea. You'll see the same benefits if you drink either black or green tea, which both have antibacterial properties to it. You can try working tea into your routine several times a day by having it with meals, which can go a long way in fighting bacteria all day long.

Rinse WIth Turmeric

Turmeric is often used in mustards to give the food it's yellow color, but it also has antibacterial properties you should be aware of. A recent study showed how a turmeric rinse that combined the spice with some water was enough to be effective against plaque. It is also quite comparable to using a rinse that uses chlorhexidine. 

Working a combination of these four things into your daily routine will help your mouth fight off bacteria that can cause dental complications.
